Are you embarking on a solo adventure? We’ve got tips for traveling solo to share with you!
Before you embark on a solo adventure practice doing activities independently. Visit some local museums. Go out to eat alone. Pretend to be a tourist in your own community, or one nearby. This will help put you more at ease when you venture out into the world on your own.
It is important to consider safety when you’re traveling alone. Don’t let others know you’re traveling alone. While most people are generally good, there are those who prey on tourists. Be careful, especially if you’re a female traveling solo.
Make sure to touch base with your friends and family through texts and phone calls. Don’t post your location to social media in real time. This leaves you open to people of questionable reputations discovering your location. It also lets not-so-nice people back home know that your house may be empty and open to burglaries.
A money belt can be a great safety device. However, traditional money belts can be a bit bulky. Think outside the box a little. Look for something a little more modern. Runner’s belts are smaller and will hold your cash as well as cards. And, they are easily hidden under your clothes. Be sure to divide your money among several different locations. That way if any gets lost or stolen, you will have backup.
