How to Travel to Theme Parks With Babies and Toddlers

Traveling to a theme park with a baby or toddler can seem a bit…overwhelming. Don’t worry! We have some tips to share to make your trip a breeze.

Check Ticket Prices

A lot of theme parks offer free entry for children under the age of three. That’s right, you baby or toddler may get FREE entry! This can be a real money saver for a family vacation.

Leave The Screens at Home

You read that correctly. Leave the kid friendly screens at home. This is the perfect opportunity for your child to be a kid. Let them play made up games while waiting in line. Encourage them to live the adventures, not stare at a screen.

Make The Memories

Many people shy away from traveling to a theme park with a baby or toddler because, “They’re not going to remember it.” Well, while this is sort of a hot topic among theme park goers, one thing remains true. The child may not have vivid memories of the trip, but you will have priceless memories of experiencing all the magic with your little one.

Bring Your Personal Stroller

This topic is widely debated. Speaking from lots of experience, you baby or young toddler is going to be more comfortable in their own stroller. It’s the perfect place for a nap in the shade while mom and dad enjoy an ice cream.

Now, this changes a little as your child enters the older toddler and preschool range. The strollers available at the park, or those rented from local companies, are perfect for this age group.

Stroller Covers

These can literally make or break your trip. Purchase the rain and sun covers! You will be so glad you did. You never know when a Florida rain storm will pop up. Hint: It’s usually around 3 p.m. every day during the spring and summer.

Snacks, Snacks, Snacks

Did we mention snacks? Toddlers are hungry…all the time. Toddlers also want instant gratification. These two things combine to make a grumpy child. Keep snacks on hand and hunger at bay.

Don’t Forget!

Grab a first visit button to commemorate your child’s first trip. We still have ours 20+ years later.

If you happen to forget or run out of your kiddo’s favorite snack chances are the park will have it for sale.

If your little one isn’t quite meeting the height requirements, ask for a certificate to ride the attraction during a future visit.

Splash pads are a great, and fun, way to keep the littles cool! They are also a great way to burn that excess energy.

Water Parks – The Theme Park’s Fun Cousin

Don’t overlook Disney, Universal, and SeaWorld water parks. These can be a great way to spend a few summer days. They give you the opportunity to plant your family in one spot and splash in the cool water on hot Florida days. They even have special areas designated for our tiny friends!
