Check the school calendar.
Let the school calendar be your guide. School districts plan far in advance. Our school district posts the calendar for the next school year some time during the second semester of the current year. This makes travel during the school year a lot easier.
Do keep in mind that dates can change depending on where you live. If you live up north it might be because of winter storms and if you live in the south… well, hurricane season is a thing. So, travel insurance is always a good idea.
The good thing about knowing those dates in advance is you can book flights, hotels, and excursions. Sometimes you can get discounts for booking earlier or may have the opportunity to make payments on your trip rather than paying all at once.
Let the break help determine your destination.
Depending on the amount of time you have during those school breaks or even just on a weekend will play a major factor in what you choose as your destination. Factor in downtime.
Travel during the school year, while fun and mentally relaxing, is still a bit tiring. It’s always a good idea to build in a day of downtime when you return. This gives your body time to rest and your brain time to reset to work mode. When you head back to work or school you will be completely recharged.
Get work done ahead of time.
A little extra work at the beginning will make a huge difference when you return. You don’t want to come back from vacation dreading the work you know has piled up while you were gone. Try to put in a little extra time every day leading up to your vacation. This will help you hit the ground running when you return. It also lets you fully relax while on vacation. If you’ve gotten everything done ahead of time you won’t be worrying about all the things at work.
Remember, break the monotony, not the bank.
