Visiting Bryce Canyon National Park will be an amazing experience, at least it was for us. Being prepared is essential. Here are a few things to know before you go.
The Bryce Canyon website is your friend!
Bryce Canyon is a nature park. Nature is notoriously unpredictable. Crazy weather can cause a variety of changes such as road and trail closures, changes in operating hours, etc. These things are frequently updated on the park’s website. It’s always a good idea to check a few days before your trip as well as the day of your big adventure.
The park shuttle is great!
If you want to hit the major areas of the park with efficiency park your car at the visitor’s center and hop on one of the park’s shuttle buses. This is hop-on-hop-off style shuttle system. Whether you want to just hit the highlights of the park in a short amount of time or embark on a few short hikes from some of the main areas of the park, the shuttle is there for you. They have multiple stops throughout the park and you can hop on or off at any of these designated areas.
Bonus – it also frees you up to take pictures instead of driving.
There is little to no cell service in the park.
Unfortunately, there is very little cell service throughout the park. While you may not be able to call out or fire off a text, you can still use the camera on your phone. Take all the pictures! Trust me, you’re going to want lots of pictures of the beautiful park.
Wildlife – it’s a party in the park!
Many people think the wildlife in the park is just in the pictures. Well, we can tell you without a doubt that it is real. Being aware of your surroundings is very important. Animals will dart in front of you before you even know what happened. If you’re driving be very careful. We had two deer run in front of our car as we were making our way to Rainbow Point.
If you’r hiking, make sure you are very alert. Do not get close to any of the animals. Keep in mind that these are wild animals and human interaction is not normal for them. Keep a safe distance.
Bryce Canyon is a national treasure. The large collection of beautifully colored hoodoos is amazing. It’s an incredible park to visit. Just keep these tips in mind during your adventure.
