If you’ve been following our recent posts you know we went to Las Vegas. Well Vegas wasn’t our exactly our ultimate destination. It was our initial home base for an 11 day epic roadtrip adventure. Here are the details as well as some hints about upcoming posts. Let’s dive in!
11 Days
We spent 11 days on a travel oddysey of sorts. Flying into Las Vegas gave us the time jump we needed to undertake an epic roadtrip.
2 Round-Trip Flights
We flew 3844 miles between our first and last days of the trip. Florida to Nevada is only a four hour flight, but not having to drive there really freed up time for us to visit more places during the rest of the trip.
8 Days of Driving
Sorry, Avis! We piled 3370 miles on that poor car in just 8 days. And, let’s just say they were not all easy highway miles. Extreme heat, some rough terrain, and lots of stop and go driving really put that little car through the paces.
Did we mention extreme heat? We are talking an average daily temperature of 105°F!
There were a total of 1755 extreme curves and switchback roads.
9 National Parks
We’re not going to give it all away here. However, we will tell you that the parks were based in Utah, Nevada, Arizona, and California. Any guesses? Drop a comment below and tell us where you think we went!
We will give you one without making you guess. Just take a look at our video Link here.
1 Presidential Library
This is one of the bonus stops that we posted about. We didn’t realize it was near our original destination until we did a search for nearby things to see. Presidential libraries are fairly rare. If you have the opportunity to visit one, definitely take it.
1 Museum of Western Film
This was another bonus stop. And, wow! This place was a complete surprise.
6 Stops on Route 66
Did we intend to do a Route 66 roadtrip? Absolutely not. Did we accidentally end up on long stretches of the historical highway? Yes, yes we did.
We even made a stop on a corner in Winslow, Arizona.
1 Public Bus Ride
Out of all of our modes of travel over the 11 day period we only took one bus. By this point, we were beginning to feel like characters in the 1980’s movie Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.
Similarly, we only used one ride share service.
1 Iconic Filming Location
We can’t wait to share the details of this adventure with you! So…many…films.
